Dr. Purnendu Mishra

Dr. Purnendu Mishra is a distinguished academician and administrator serving as the Principal at Vikash Institute of Technology, Bargarh, Odisha since September 2022. With over 25 years of diverse experience spanning academia, administration, and industry, he has made significant contributions to the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering. He completed his Ph.D. in 2022 from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Odisha, M.Tech in 2010 from KIIT Deemed University, B.E. in 2006 from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, and MBA in Human Resource Management from Punjab Technical University (2013). His research interests include Signal Processing, VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, Microarray Gene Expression Analysis, and Machine Learning applications in biomedical engineering. He has published numerous papers in reputed SCI journals including Elsevier, Springer, and IEEE publications, with research focusing on cancer gene recognition, genomic signal processing, and brain tissue segmentation using AI/ML techniques. Dr. Mishra is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor at both BPUT and Rabindranath Tagore University, currently guiding research scholars. He has received prestigious awards including the BPUT University Foundation Day Research Award (2020-21), Rajalaxmi Best Engineering College Teacher of Odisha State (2013) from ISTE, and Research Excellence Award (2022) from Institute of Scholar. He serves as a Member of the Board of Management at BPUT, Member of Examination Conducting Board at BPUT, and SPOC of SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter. He is a Senior Life Member of ISTE, Associate Member of IE(India), and Life Member of IETE.
